What is the difference between a BACTERIA and a VIRUS?

Bacteria and viruses can create disease. However, there are bacteria that help us in our day-to-day as in digestion. Nevertheless, when there are excess and harmful bacteria, they can generate a pathology.

  • REPRODUCTION: Bacteria can multiply while viruses attack healthy cells to transform them.
  • NEED TO LIVE: Bacteria need nothing to live, and viruses need a cell to live.
  • TREATMENT: Antibiotics attack bacteria. However, there is no specific treatment to kill a virus. Treatments often relieve symptoms. But it is the immune system that has to keep the virus at bay.
