That is why companies have to adapt to this transformation. To do this, it is necessary to understand what motivates consumers to make decisions. This trend was already showing in 2019 before the global pandemic. However, now it is back and it seems that it will become an expectation instead of an exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent analysis by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simon-kucher.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">consulting firm Simon Kucher and partners<\/a>&nbsp;shows how 85% of consumers have become more sustainable in the last 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generational Differences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this growth is not homogeneous between the different generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sbshoppingbasket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/people-generations-uai-720x540.jpg\" alt=\"people-generations\" class=\"wp-image-102157\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainable consumption increase in the last 5 years<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Generation Z \u00b7 <small>24%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generation Y (Milennials) \u00b7 <small>34%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Generation X \u00b7 <small>24%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Baby Boomers \u00b7 <small>24%<\/small><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As we can see, there is an increase in the interest in sustainability in retail. However, the most committed to the cause are the Millennials where 34% choose a sustainable alternative if it is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which sectors worry the most?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The sectors that matter most to consumers in terms of sustainability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Energy \u00b7 <small>74%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Construction \u00b7 <small>66%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Retail \u00b7 <small>63%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Automotive \u00b7 <small>61%<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finance \u00b7 <small>44%<\/small><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/resources.sbshoppingbasket.com\/fr\/es\/ebook-retail-3-recycling-a-new-opportunity-for-your-business\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sbshoppingbasket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/banner-web-1024x100-ebook3.jpg\" alt=\"banner-web-1024x100-ebook3\" class=\"wp-image-89885\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/resources.sbshoppingbasket.com\/fr\/es\/ebook-retail-3-recycling-a-new-opportunity-for-your-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But are they willing to pay more?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Generations Z and Y are willing to pay up to 40% more for ethical and environmentally sustainable products and services. Generation Xers and Baby Boomers are also interested, but less willing to pay more. These generations know that change begins with themselves and they are aware of the natural threats that malpractice for decades is causing to the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do the big brands already offer sustainable products?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies must continue to offer sustainable possibilities that satisfy consumers. In the future, it will surely become a normality that all companies take advantage of. Companies working today to introduce sustainable alternatives will soon become the leaders in their industry. The big brands know this very well, and countless them have totally disruptive options that captivate the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sbshoppingbasket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/adidas-sustainable.jpg\" alt=\"adidas-sustainable\" class=\"wp-image-102169\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adidas already uses recycled polyester in 60% of its production<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2015 it has been collaborating with organizations that respect the environment. In addition, it aims to have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adidas-group.com\/en\/media\/press-releases\/adidas-in-2021-for-the-first-time-more-than-60-percent-of-all-products-will-be-made-with-sustainable-materials#:~:text=For%20the%20first%20time%20in,organization%20Parley%20for%20the%20Oceans.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">all its production recycled\u00a0<\/a>by 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sbshoppingbasket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/nike-sustainable.jpg\" alt=\"nike--sustainable\" class=\"wp-image-102174\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MOVE TO ZERO by Nike<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With this,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nike.com\/es\/sostenibilidad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">initiative,<\/a>\u00a0Nike wants to protect sports with a zero carbon footprint and zero waste. They have R&amp;D laboratories for the development of sustainable materials and advice on how to take care of our equipment so that it lasts longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sbshoppingbasket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/conscious-hm.jpg\" alt=\"conscious h&amp;m\" class=\"wp-image-102184\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">THE CONSCIOUS CHOICE by H&amp;M<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since April 2021, H&amp;M has made a line of environmentally<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.hm.com\/es_es\/service-clients\/product-and-quality\/conscious-concept.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0conscious products available to its customers<\/a>. They have manufactured the collection thanks to creating a recycled material based on fruit fibers. The line has at least 50% recycled material based on recycled polyester and organic cotton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sbshoppingbasket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/zara-join-life.png\" alt=\"zara-join-life\" class=\"wp-image-102189\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JOIN LIFE COLLECTION by Zara<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Zara has also created&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zara.com\/us\/en\/z-join-life-mkt1399.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a line of sustainable clothing where the cellulose fibers come from controlled-growth forests, respecting protected and natural forests. They also save on resources such as water, using less and in a closed circuit to conserve and reuse water.<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zara.com\/us\/en\/z-join-life-mkt1399.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The vision of the companies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Brands must understand that integrating sustainability into their business model is long-term since the returns will not be immediate. The most favorable thing is that companies incorporate sustainability in their company mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The creation of lines of recycled products should consider the environmental impact from the creation of a sustainable supply, through responsible consumption, to its elimination with the reduction of waste and reuse.
